Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and senior European officials were partially evacuated from a chartered train near the Polish border amid a Russian drone threat in the area — Der Spiegel reported.
The train was traveling from Kyiv toward Poland when it stopped near the Ukrainian border at around 5 a.m. because of drone strikes in the area. Conductors woke passengers to evacuate them, and none of the 206 people aboard that service were injured.
Günter Sautter, a foreign and security policy adviser to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as well as European security officials, German lawmakers, diplomats and academics were aboard. They were returning from the Yalta European Strategy conference in Kyiv.
Polish authorities said the attacks did not violate the country’s airspace.
