The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express luxury train, which has operated between Paris and Venice since 1982, will stop in Monaco on May 10, 2027, Le Figaro reports. It will be the first time the train has stopped in the principality. The stop will take place just once a year, La Gazette de Monaco specifies.
The cheapest ticket from Paris costs 4,870 euros per person for a double cabin decorated in a period style. A suite costs 11,580 euros, while a grand suite can cost as much as 14,780 euros, according to La Gazette de Monaco.
The fare includes all meals, a selection of wines, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks and transfers. Passengers dine in one of the train’s two restaurant cars before spending the evening in the bar car, accompanied by live music. Breakfast is served in their cabins, and a dedicated steward is available to passengers around the clock.
Overnight Journey from Paris to Monaco
The train will depart from Paris’s Gare de l’Est at 3 p.m. on May 10, 2027. The following morning, it will travel along the Mediterranean coast, passing the red rocks of the Estérel massif and the towns of Saint-Raphaël, Cannes and Nice.
It will stop in Cannes at 9:25 a.m. before arriving at Monaco’s underground Monte-Carlo station at 10:35 a.m., after a journey of about 20 hours.
Passengers cannot board the train in Monaco, as they would not spend a night on board, the operator explains.
The train will then continue towards Venice, with a final stop in Verona, Italy, at 6:30 p.m. It is scheduled to arrive in Venice at 8 p.m.
